Transformations

This program takes its cue from the liturgical Feast of the Transfiguration (August 6) and features changes from small to large scale throughout the program.

The representative work from the BBC Promenade Concerts is Mahler's Symphony No. 1, from this season's Prom 21 (August 4) concert. The third movement of this work features a variant of the French folk tune, Frère Jacques, transformed into a minor key.
