November 25, 2002: Tribute to George Guest

9 February 1924 to 20 November 2002

This final hour of this program is a tribute to Dr. George Guest, the influential Organist of St. John's College, Cambridge from 1951 until his retirement in 1991. We hear music recorded at St. John's during this period, plus a handful of his students who achieved prominence after their service under Dr. Guest.

We also hear from Roy Goodman, who was first well-known from his recording of Allegri's Miserere while a chorister at King's College. At the date of this program, Goodman is conducting G. F. Handel's Alcina in his San Francisco Opera debut.
