November 29, 1999: Advent

The four weeks preceding Christmas, a season known as Advent, arrives. The Great Antiphons of Advent appear in this program primarily as derived from the Veni, Emmanuel form.

Also, the birth of Jean-Baptiste Lully (28 November 1632) is commemorated, as well as the 100th anniversary of the birth of the conductor Sir John Barbirolli (2 December 1899).
