February 2: Groundhog Day

February 2 is the designated as Groundhog Day, and various connections to that theme are used. The movie Groundhog Day used music from one of the variations in Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini.

Februrary 2 is also the birthday of violinists Fritz Kreisler and Jascha Heifetz. Historical recordings of these performers are included in the program.
