bits and pieces
All the information I have on Jackal was shamelessly pilfered from the Demolition column in Metal Forces #32 (Oct. 1988). Rob Clymo writes the blurb:

"This isn't too bad and shows plenty of youthful enthusiasm and considering this line-up of Jackal has only been together since the beginning of February '88 and was recorded on a 4-track, the band have managed to capture some atmosphere on the four songs included here.

The band are based in West London and comprise of Caroline O'Grady (vocals), David Egan (lead and rhythm guitar), Claire Egan (rhythm guitar), sixteen-year-old Danny Nichols (drums) and Stephen Tucknell (bass). I'm glad to hear a girl having a go at the vocals, after all, the UK has virtually lost all its female singers and although sounding a bit frantic at times, Caroline O'Grady does OK.

The band don't really offer much in the way of originality and the songs tend to sound like stuff from the NWOBHM era, but they do try and go for the speedier end of the spectrum, as on "Tourniquet." The band obviously like Iron Maiden, sounding quite like them on more than one occasion, particularly on "Euthanasia," still early days yet and it's good to see the UK fighting back agains the endless deluge of stuff coming out of the states."
