This CD was recorded live at the Willow Jazz Club in Somerville, Ma. so it has that small club feel. The music is 90s style jazz with a be-bop flavor. This is a group collaboration and the band is pretty tight. Henry has a nice sound on both flute and saxophone. Bobby Ward provides ample beats and sounds, pretty thunderous but not overpowering. All the compositions are original and penned by Cook, Ward and Chanier. The music does not have that boring jazz standard sound and the musicians are allowed to stretch out. There are a few of up tempo pieces (1, 2, 4, 7), a beautiful, mystical, ballad (3), a collective, sort of free improvization (6).
